Crater Lake is a beautiful deep blue lake due to the fact that the only fill for the lake is the clean, clear snow and rainfall. The clouds form interesting, dark shadows on the surface of the lake. The location is at Merriam Point near the trail we found near the North Entrance of the Rim Drive, on the west end of the lake. This photo makes it appear that one could fall right off the edge into Crater Lake. Actually, this is very, very possible since there were no guardrails or fences anywhere near us.   • The snow is everywhere at Crater Lake, OR. We were amazed that much of Crater Lake was still closed for the winter only a few weeks before our arrival!
