• The snow is everywhere at Crater Lake, OR. We were amazed that much of Crater Lake was still closed for the winter only a few weeks before our arrival! It's difficult to believe that there could be so much snow on July 1 to keep Crater Lake closed!
• Crater Lake is a beautiful deep blue lake due to the fact that the only fill for the lake is the clean, clear snow and rainfall. The clouds form interesting, dark shadows on the surface of the lake. The location is at Merriam Point near the trail we found near the North Entrance of the Rim Drive, on the west end of the lake. Looking toward the Northeast in this photo.
• The stream on the North Umpqua Trail on route 138 as we make our way toward Crater Lake, OR. This is about halfway between Roseburg, OR and Crater Lake, OR.
• Another view of the Umpqua RIver on route 138 as we make our way toward Crater Lake, OR. A nice spot for a picnic, although we had no lunch with us, but it was nice to stop for a few minutes and enjoy the scenery.
• Panorama photo of Crater Lake, Oregon (photos 6007, 6008, 6009, 6010) taken July 26, 2006 at Merriam Point near the North Rim entrance on the west side of the lake. Copyright © 2006 Rick Kruer rickkruer.com
 • Crater Lake Panorama photo of 6007, 6008, 6009, 6010 taken at Crater Lake, Oregon July 26, 2006. Photo taken on the west side of the lake near the North Rim entrance near Merriam Point, Llao Rock on the left side of the photo, center of lake looking toward the east. This photo makes it appear that one could fall right off the edge into Crater Lake. Actually, this is very, very possible since there were no guardrails or fences anywhere near us. It was at least a 1000 foot drop to the lake!

Panorama created by combining four photos into one using Photomerge in Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0.
